If you have an existing bedroom suite, you might wish to transform it into an attractive studio apartment area. Studio apartment areas are not only stylish and popular, but they are also very practical, adding a lot of functionality to the bedroom area. Creating a studio apartment atmosphere from a simple bedroom suite area will allow you to use the room for multiple functions, instead of just being limited to standard bedroom uses.

Studio Apartment Functionality

Studio apartments are famous for creating multiple uses for a single living space. Whether you have a desire to add home office space, a sitting area, or an area to enjoy games, reading or other types of activities, transforming your bedroom suite into a studio apartment will add functionality as well as additional home value. Modern bedroom trends lean towards luxurious bedroom suites and multi-use living spaces connected to the bedroom area, so creating a studio apartment area will give your bedroom a very modern and updated look and feel.

Visually Defining the Space

If you have one or more adjoining rooms in your master bedroom suite, this can provide a lot of flexibility for creating a studio apartment appearance. This type of arrangement will allow you to use the primary room as the bedroom, and any adjoining rooms for office space, a seating or lounging area, or for a television or other types of entertainment systems. If you are limited to one room, as is often the case with a true studio apartment, use furniture arrangements, wall color, lighting, or area rugs to visually divide the room into different areas. You can also use tall bookcases or free-standing room divider screens to divide a single room into areas for multiple uses, just as is often done in a studio apartment space. Light fixtures such as chandeliers or floor lamps can also be used to help visually define the space, as can metal wall sculptures and contemporary wall hangings.

Creating Attractive and Functional Office Space

One of the most popular reasons for transforming an existing bedroom area into a studio apartment is to add a home office. This can add a lot of functionality to your home, while still maintaining a nice bedroom area atmosphere. By defining the space visually in a studio apartment style, the room will appear to be more truly multi-functional instead of just looking like a bedroom that includes a desk.

Creating a Sitting Room Area

A studio apartment approach to decorating a bedroom suite is also a good way of incorporating a sitting room area. Sitting rooms are generally used for relaxation and leisure activities, as opposed to the work usages of an office area. Multi-functional furniture pieces such as a futon or even a daybed can be a nice addition to the area.  A coffee table, bookcases or occasional tables are also good additions when creating a studio apartment look and feel. Small furniture pieces such as loveseats and chairs also work well, as long as you keep the furniture size proportional to the overall size of the bedroom space.
